Virginia is one of the beautiful state of U.S, located between the Atlantic coast
and the Appalachian Mountains. Due to its status, its nickname is “Old
Dominion”. Virginia is the part of both the Southern United States and mid-Atlantic. It is the 35th
largest state by area. The key contributor to the Virginia economy is
agriculture, the 33% of the land remains devoted to farming. Military,
government service and technology also plays an important role in Virginia
industry. Virginia has the highest concentration of technology worker of any
state. The nickname of the Commonwealth
of Virginia is the “Mother of the President” because eight U.S presidents have
been born there.
1. Old Town Alexandria – The historic
centre of Alexandria is known as “old town”. It is a major draw for all who
live in Alexandria as well for visitors. It is located eight minutes from
Washington, D.C. on the river waterfront. It is one of the best place to live in Virginia.
It is a marvellously handsome
place of red brick buildings. Alexandria is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
2. The Pentagon Memorial
– It is located in Arlington country, Virginia. It is a permanent outdoor memorial to the 184 people
who died as victims in the building and on airline flight 77. Pentagon memorial
designed by Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman. People come to pay respect and
place tributes.
3. See
your favourite bands perform at a live music venue – There is no
better place then, where your favourite band performs. Virginia has plenty of
live music venues during winter seasons. In winter, dancing is another way to
stay warm. There are a number of large as
well as small music halls.
4. Winter
resort – It is a four season mountain resort located in Nelson country, Virginia. It opened in 1975. It is a
mountain-top resort in which all the facilities are built on peaks rather than
the traditional base. There is golf
course and training centre also. Wintergreen hosted its first winter “Special
Olympics” in January 1978.This is in the top list of best places to live in Virginia.
5. Mountain
views – Only way to hike Virginia’s mountain is to walk on flat
sandy beaches. The mountain is the state start of Blue Bridge. Virginia’s
tallest mountain reaches 5,729 feet above sea level. The summit of Whitetop maintain,
is the second highest point in the state. It is 5520 feet high.
6. James
Town – It was established by the Virginia Company of London. It is just a few miles away from
Colonial Williamsburg. As we know that, it was the site of the first British
settlement and its success, change the course of North American. James town
site is more focused on archaeology. It is bigger and more impressive museum.
